A plain unaddressed follow-up in a channel thread the bot participates in gets reply_expected=None, so a bare [SILENT] is rejected and the gateway posts the unexpected-silence notice. That is noisy when humans in the thread talk to each other without @mentioning. thread_followup_silence (config.extra / SLACK_THREAD_FOLLOWUP_SILENCE, default false) makes such non-DM thread replies reply_expected=False so the silence marker stands. DMs, @mentions and flat channels are unchanged, and the default keeps the #110952 behaviour. Move the Slack config getter factories into adapter_config_readers.py to keep adapter.py within its code-health line cap.
